Rev. Nim B. Russell

Pastor Russell is a native of
Hurtsboro, Alabama. He is married to the former Julia Pink. They have been married 32 years and have three children; Octavious, Nicole and Rachael Russell.

Reverend Russell has a Bachelor of Theology Degree from Interdenominational Institute of Theology, Montgomery, AL and a Master of Divinity from Covington Theological Seminary of Rossville, Ga... He received a certificate in Blueprint Reading, Precision Instrument for Quality Control from Opelika Technical College, Opelika, AL. He's attended Southern Union State Junior College, majoring in Social Science and Chattahoochee Valley Community College, majoring in Pre-Law. He also has received Certificates in the areas of: Drug Prevention, Volunteerism, Fund Raising, Substance Abuse, Juvenile Delinquency, Counseling, Planning, and Volunteer Recruiting.

While serving as Pastor of Second Baptist Church in Wetumpka. Pastor Russell organized a food closet that served an average of 1500 pounds of food a month in the Wetumpka community; a Food Share Program that served approximately 300 people a month along with a Food Share Transportation Program that carried food for seven different agencies. Under his leadership and through the Grace of God, an abandoned building was renovated to become an adult day-care site. The Adult-Day-Care Program was organized and began functioning in October of 1989. The Future Leaders of Elmore County, which was organized and incorporated under his leadership. Governor Guy Hunt of Alabama appointed him for the Governor's Conference on Parenting and Prevention in September 1990.

He is a community organizer with the ability to plan, evaluate, implement, motivate, manage, and supervise.

Pastor Russell was called into the ministry of Jesus Christ in June of 1982. He pastors the Second Missionary Baptist Church of Wetumpka, Alabama for six years before being called to the pastorate of Thankful Missionary Baptist Church in 1991.  Through much prayer and determination, Reverend Russell has been the initiator of many stones.

Reverend Nim Russell has initiated many programs in the Church. He appointed the first Youth Minister to staff at Thankful Missionary Baptist Church. Out of his spiritual inspiration were produced Fourteen sons and four evangelist, eight sons are now pastoring their own churches.

  

The Russell Life Center, a 1.2 millions dollar building was completed in 1994. The Church participated in the Mission Exchange program and took a youth group on an International Trip to Old East Germany. A second location for Thankful Baptist was developed called Thankful Baptist Kennesaw (TBK).  A house at 212 Grady Avenue in Rome Georgia has been purchased. Many physical improvements have been made to the physical structure.  Thankful's After School Care program with 501-C (3) status was established in 1998.

Thankful's Mass Choir has released its first album "Happy in My Home."

Reverend Russell has numerous other religious, community, and civic endeavors and affiliations. GMBC State Congress of Christian Education and North Georgia Association Instructor, Dean of Covington Theological Seminary Rome Branch, Chairman of the Christ Builders Cooperation Board and recently was named as the Vice President of the North Georgia Region for the General Missionary Baptist Convention of Georgia, Inc.
